GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Students in the strategic philanthropy course at UW-Green Bay awarded Brown County Family Services with a $10,000 check Monday.
The class requested proposals to provide education about how to recognize and prevent human trafficking
The students chose to address the issue of human trafficking after learning more about its impact in Northeastern Wisconsin.
Students in the course, like Lily Johnson, tell FOX 11 they’re happy to help make a positive impact on the community.
“It feels really good. I like to better our community and hopefully save some lives and just a really good feeling to be able to give back.”
The grant was provided by “The Learning by Giving Foundation” an organization founded by Doris Buffett, the sister of Warren Buffett.
