GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK)- The Green Bay Police Department says, don’t run from the cops, run with them.
Every Thursday, police officers and city officials run for a half-hour during their lunch break and they encourage people to join them.
Green Bay Police Chief Andrew Smith says he will be out there every week.
“It’s a beautiful day here in Green Bay and it’s a beautiful place to run. Plus employees that are in good shape and are physically fit are healthier, they use less sick time, they’re happier at work, it improves employee morale, so I think there are a lot of reasons why we do it.”
Thursday was the official kickoff on the city deck near Cherry Street.
Smith says he hopes the crowd keeps growing.
