WINNEBAGO COUNTY, WISCONSIN (WTAQ) – A Neenah woman will spend four years in prison for filing false federal income tax returns in other people’s names.
Billie Jo Bottine was sentenced on Wednesday for filing more than 70 false returns in 32 different names between 2009 and 2014.
The 39-year-old sought more than $340,000 in tax refunds from the Internal Revenue Service through the false returns.
Bottine created fake W2 and Schedule C forms to receive the refunds and used the names, dates of birth, and social security numbers of various adults and children.
She was also given three years of extended supervision and ordered to pay $186,414 in restitution to the IRS.
