OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The Oshkosh Common Council has voted on a long-term option to rehabilitate the Jackson-Oregon Street Bridge.
It’s been closed for more than a month, after the discovery of worn gear teeth, which help raise and lower the bridge.
As repairs are underway, the city has agreed to reconstruct the bridge.
On Tuesday, council members approved the off-alignment, fixed-bridge option.
This would give driveway connection to Division Street, instead of Jackson Street.
A reconstruction would give the bridge an expected service life of 75 years.
