MANITOWOC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A Manitowoc energy manufacturing company is laying off more than 25 percent of its workforce.
Broadwind Energy didn’t disclose how many employees will be affected.
They business removed two weekend shifts at its tower plant and reassigned as many people as it could to other shifts.
“It is never easy to have a layoff,” said Joni Konstantelos of Broadwind Energy. “The layoff has nothing to do with the talent and dedication of our team. Unfortunately, the layoff is the result of what we believe to be a short-term pause in activity in the tower market, primarily in the Midwest.”
