GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – A Green Bay man faces over more than three decades in prison after he pulled out a machete during a domestic incident.
67-year-old Eugene Woods is charged with five counts, including 2 for first-degree recklessly endangering safety and child abuse/intentionally causing bodily harm.
According to the criminal complaint, Green Bay police were called to a home on Langlade Avenue on the morning of February 15 for a weapon used during a disturbance.
Officers arrived to hearing a lot of yelling and sounds of a physical fight. They forced entry into the home because of the possibility of someone in great danger.
The cops saw 3 people in the living room area and were able to securely take the machete, which had been placed in the kitchen.
A teenager, who had been hit in the mouth by Woods, said he’d been living at the home with his mom for “about six months”. The teen had been sleeping on the couch, when arguing between his mom and Eugene started up.
Woods apparently was upset over the teen’s cell phone, a struggle ensued over that phone. Woods then went and got his machete and said, “You guys are going to give me my phone.”
Police were called after the machete was unsheathed. It was eventually put down, but Woods apparently struck the mom. That’s when the teen and Eugene got into it.
Eugene Woods is due back in Brown County court for his arraignment on April 22.
