The Milwaukee Brewers dropped the rubber game of the series against the East Division leading New York Mets 5-4 at Citi Field Thursday night. The Brewers let a 4-1 lead get away after scoring all four in the 4th inning. Christian Yelich hit his 7th homer of the year and Omar Narvaez delivered a two run single in the rally. Aaron Ashby started for the Brewers and ran into trouble in the 5th before leaving the game with what was described as forearm tightness. New York got the game even and it stayed tied until the 8th. That’s when Rowdy Tellez made a couple of uncharacteristic mistakes. With a runner on first, Tellez fielded a ground ball and his throw to second to start a double play sailed over the head of shortstop Willy Adames for an error. Another grounder to first had Tellez try to start another double play at second but the relay was late and the lead run scored. The Brewers nearly tied the game in the top of the 9th but Hunter Renfro was gunned down at the plate trying to score from second on a single. The Brewers leave the Big Apple 35-30, two games behind St. Louis in the NL Central. Milwaukee wraps up the road trip with a weekend series in Cincinnati before hosting the Cardinals for four games next week at American Family Field. Eric Lauer will face Hunter Greene in the series opener at the Great American Ballpark Friday night. Pre-game coverage begins at 5:05 PM with a 5:40 PM first pitch on WTAQ.
