GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — It’s a hot one.
With heat indices in the upper 90s and even into the 100s in parts of Northeast Wisconsin expected over the next few days.
As such, the Salvation Army has opened up its cooling centers in both Green Bay and the Fox Valley.
Nicole Hanley with the Greater Green Bay Salvation Army says the Corps Community Center on Union Court will be open.
“Any day when either the actual temperature or the heat index gets above 100, we will operate the cooling center,” she explained.
Warm temperatures are expected to continue until at least Thursday. Cooling centers operated by Brown County are not expected to open. Emergency Management Director Lauri Maki says they won’t open until there’s a longer stretch of warm days combined with warmer nights.
