ASHWAUBENON, WI (WTAQ) – Tuesday is Flag Day, and people across the country are raising their flags to take part.
The summer brings Memorial Day, Flag Day, and the 4th of July. But for the folks at Fly Me Flag in Ashwaubenon, the perhaps least-known holiday is by far their favorite.
“We really refer to this time of year as our patriotic season,” said Owner Stacey Stewart. “We certainly have customers who make a point of coming in at this time of the year, or even on Flag Day, to pick up a fresh flag…[it’s] definitely our busiest season. Everybody is working in their yard or doing landscaping at their business, so they’re thinking about their flags.”
That busy season for Fly Me Flag runs even through Patriots Day and Veterans Day in the fall. But for Stewart, the summer is prime time to take a look at the Old Glory flying on your property.
“It is National Flag Week. It’s a great time to fly your flag, make sure it’s in great shape, and represent our nation well,” Stewart told WTAQ News. “Flag Day is a great time to bring in a flag that needs to be retired and leave with a beautiful, brand new Old Glory.”
However, like many industries across the country right now – even flags are seeing supply issues.
“There is high demand for U.S. flags right now. Fortunately for us, we order flags six months to a year in advance of when we need them, so we have been well stocked,” Stewart said. “We’ve seen that demand grow over the past few years, so we’ve really anticipated the need of the community and are doing our best to keep all sizes in stock.”
