A former paratrooper from Thailand was able to touch down safely and win the American Family Insurance Championship at University Ridge outside Madison on Sunday. Thongchai Jaidee became the first Thai to capture a Champions Tour event by finishing with a -4 68 in the final round for a one shot victory over Tom Pernice Jr. Four players were at -12 including defending champion Jerry Kelly. The tournament’s host, Steve Stricker, got to within a shot of the lead before falling off the pace to finish tied for 11th at -9.
