GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – Years of hard work is about to pay off for University of Wisconsin-Green Bay and St. Norbert College seniors this weekend.
UWGB’s commencement ceremony is Saturday morning at 11:30 inside the Kress Events Center.
Campus Police Lt. Jeff Gross recommends getting there with plenty of time to spare.
“Probably a packed house for us. We recommend people trying to get there an hour or hour and a half early. Doors will open ninety minutes before the ceremony.”
Gross says traffic may get congested on Bay Settlement Rd and Nicolet Dr., so prepare for delays.
A couple of things to keep in mind while attending the special event; keep all inflatable balloons or signs on sticks in the car. They will not be allowed in the building. Also be sure to keep the isles clear so people can get to their seats.
“Obviously like any special event we have now days with the era we’re in, they should be aware that there may be extra screening that goes on,” says Gross.
UWGB will have 939 eligible graduates this year which is the second largest class at for the school.
Meanwhile, in De Pere, St. Norbert College will be having their graduation ceremonies on Sunday, May 15th. Baccalaureate Mass is at 9:15 a.m. and commencement starts at 1:30 p.m.
Construction to the new Mulva Family Fitness and Sports Center has pushed the ceremony outdoors on the quad west of the Campus Center.
The last time the event was held outside was in 1977.
