SHERWOOD, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Competition will reach new heights at High Cliff State Park this weekend.
The Wisconsin Tree Climbing Championship is open to the public.
There will be five events over two days.
Each takes a component or skill set that a climber might use during any climb.
After the five events, five competitors compete in a masters challenge.
Finally, a winner is crowned and moves on to compete internationally in Montreal, Canada in 2023.
“This is a competition but at the same point as well, it’s a good learning opportunity for a lot of our climbers so we have 34 climbers that are here for the weekend; five I believe are from out of state, so we’re able to showcase some talent from around North American which is really cool,” said event technician, Mike Stanonik.
Saturday’s events start around 7:30 a.m. and run throughout the day.
