GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – Green Bay Police were safely able to take a man into custody Tuesday, after talking him down from a parking ramp on Cherry Street.
Chief Andrew Smith says the person was threatening to harm himself.
Police Captain Kevin Warych says in cases like that, safety is the top concern.
“The ultimate goal is to make sure we get the person in crisis the best services possible.”
They also had to call in experts to help talk with and negotiate with the subject.
“Policing is not about writing tickets and taking people to jail. It is about facilitating a positive outcome for every individual. Police work has morphed into wearing many different hats.”
Police had to block off the area and close down the ramps for a period of time.
