EATON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Eddie Whipp’s Dining Hall is celebrating 100 years in business this month.
The family-owned and operated Brown County business kicked off celebrations on Wednesday. Special events continue on Friday and Sunday.
The business is located within the community of Poland, in the town of Eaton.
Whipp’s Dining was founded in 1922 by Joe Whipp (Wypiznski). His eldest son, Eddie, took over in 1940. Currently, Eddie’s second youngest child Mark runs the business with his wife, daughters and nephew.
Manager Becky Whipp feels grateful to be a part of the milestone.
“It’s amazing. I mean obviously a lot of blood, sweat, and tears have gone into [it]… from Joe Whipp, who would be my great-grandpa who started it. Then Eddie’s my grandfather, Mark [is] my dad. My Aunt Sandy, who’s here, she’s worked here for over 50 years… so it just feels kind of amazing and overwhelming, but in a good way.”
The dining hall hosts banquets and weddings on the weekends. The dining room can seat over 100 people at one time. They also have a large ballroom.
A polka band performed on Wednesday. An Oshkosh-based quartet will perform on Friday. Another northeast Wisconsin-based band will be there on Sunday.
The business is offering specials on select food items as it celebrates its centennial.
