DE PERE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A group of people is being thanked for their quick response when a fellow employee went into cardiac arrest.
Five employees from Fincantieri Marine Group received the American Heart Association Heartsaver Hero Award Monday at the company’s De Pere office.
Employee Tracy Ramcheck went into cardiac arrest.
Barb Willems, Adam Grant, Ryan Batten, Tracy Weyenberg and Katie Jennings then jumped into action.
From calling 911 to administering CPR and applying a defibrillator, to keeping Ramcheck comfortable, each had a hand in a life-saving effort that paid off.
Ramcheck tells FOX 11 she doesn’t remember anything from the time she said she felt dizzy to waking up in an ambulance.
“It is a great feeling to have such co-workers that are trained with bravery and courage to utilize the training. I’m so thankful that our company has AED’s. I want to get my story spread to get AED’s in public places.”
The American Heart Association says there are 350,000 cardiac arrests outside of hospitals each year, and that 10,000 of them happen in the workplace.
