FOND DU LAC, WI (WTAQ) – A man has been taken into protective custody following a standoff incident outside the Fond du Lac Walmart.
Assistant Police Chief Steve Klein says officers received a call regarding a ‘despondent man sitting in his car’ just before 7:30 am Wednesday.
“The person that called was concerned. The caller saw him holding what appeared to be a handgun, holding it up towards himself.”
Upon arrival, Klein says police established a perimeter around the parking lot.
“We did block off roads, on Rolling Meadows, at Johnson. Neighboring businesses were told to lock down. Anytime you have incidents like this, you’re going to see a tremendous police response. This day and age, where individuals possibly could conduct harm to others.”
Klein notes there were no shots fired or injuries.
