REDGRANITE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The Redgranite Quarry is a popular swimming attraction, but it’s also become a place where people have drowned.
That’s why the fire department’s dive team held a training session Saturday.
The team recovered a mannequin from the water.
Redgranite’s police chief also monitored from the shoreline and offered some advice before people swim in the quarry.
Kyle Tarr tells WLUK…
“To take personal responsibility and not come to the quarry impaired and swim. Nothing you do, you can do safely when you’re impaired especially swimming. This is a big body of water and people have to respect it”
Tarr says alcohol and drugs are not allowed at the quarry and officers are on the lookout for people who have plans to break the law.
