MENASHA, WI (WTAQ) – The investigation is underway into an overnight shooting in Menasha.
Police responded to a report of shots fired at 821 London Street around 2 am Tuesday.
A 30-year-old Menasha man suffered non-life threatening injuries, but Community Liaison Specialist John Wallschlaeger says it’s not clear whether he was shot.
“The person inside the house was struck by perhaps debris or else shell fragments, but we’re not really saying he was shot, persay, but he was injured.”
Wallschlaeger believes at least seven shots were fired.
“There were both shell casings and bullet fragments collected as part of the investigation. There were several shots into the house.”
Wallschlaeger notes investigators are already trying to piece together what happened.
“(There are) five or six adults that live in the home. Our investigators interviewed them, talked to them about suspects that may come to their minds. It will be a matter of comparing notes and talking to other witnesses, neighbors.”
Officers believe the shooting stemmed from an argument earlier in the day and that the suspect(s) used a semi-automatic handgun.
Wallschlaeger notes nobody is in custody and encourges anyone with information to contact the Menasha Police Department at 920-967-3500.
