GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – Pools across Northeast Wisconsin are set to open in the coming weeks.
Green Bay pools are set to open up on June 11th. Appleton pools are scheduled to open up June 3rd.
Pools in Green Bay, however, may not open in full. James Andersen is the Deputy Director of the City’s Parks Department says they really need more lifeguards.
“If we opened up today, we’d be looking at two out of three pools opening,” said Andersen. “We’re doing our best to try to hire as many lifeguards as possible.”
Andersen says they need around 15-20 more lifeguards in order to open up all three of the city’s pools. There aren’t any finalized plans set in stone as to which pools will be open.
Both of Appleton’s pools are expected to be open as normal.
“I’m really excited to get started, and the staff is eager,” said Krystal Ganz with Appleton Parks. “I think we’re feeling really good about this summer.”
Both Mead and Erb pools will have swim lessons available as well, with both morning and evening options available.
The pools will be open until mid-August.
