ASHWAUBENON, WI (WTAQ) – Two people have been displaced by an Ashwaubenon apartment fire.
Fire officials received word of a blaze in the Orchard Ridge apartment complex, 968 Willard Drive #8, at 5:24 am Saturday.
Upon arrival, crews saw heavy smoke coming from the apartment and the building being evacuated.
Firefighters found the blaze in the complex’s basement and extinguished it a short time later.
No injuries were reported, but the building suffered heavy smoke damage.
Officials say the fire was caused by an unattended candle and has been deemed an accident.
Damage is estimated at $30,000.
The Red Cross is helping those affected, while the other residents were able to go back into the building.
