APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) – The Appleton Police lieutenant involved in May’s shooting at Jack’s Apple Pub has been cleared.
A five-person administrative review panel, created by the police department, has determined Lieutenant Jay Steinke used appropriate force in his attempts to shoot Henry Nellum, who reportedly had gotten into a fight and pulled a firearm.
Last month, Outagamie County District Attorney Carrie Schneider announced Steinke would not face legal charges.
Steinke accidentally shot and killed bystander Jimmie Sanders.
Nellum faces a felony murder charge for the incident.
Meanwhile, Sanders family advocate Tory Lowe has announced via Facebook that a prayer vigil will be held for Jimmie outside Jack’s Apple Pub at 5 pm on Saturday.
