GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – Fire officials say an unattended candle caused a fire at a home in Green Bay Wednesday afternoon.
Green Bay Fire was called to 1323 South Chestnut Avenue at 12:19 p.m.
An occupant of the home was inside sleeping, with two small children, when an unattended candle caught the window curtains on fire.
The occupant woke up to the curtains on fire and evacuated safely with both children.
Upon arrival, crews say the fire had spread to a mattress and was burning out of a window.
The fire was quickly extinguished by crews.
The Red Cross is assisting the family.
