UNDATED (WTAQ) – Some good news and bad news for drivers traveling I-41 in Brown County this summer.
The project will be complete by the end of the year; however, there will be more restrictions to watch out for in the coming weeks.
Communications manager with the Wisconsin DOT, Melissa Kok, says there’s still work to do on the northern part of the project.
“Later on this summer, we’ll have a sixty day closure of the Velp Avenue interchange. That will begin the second week of August and not reopen until October.”
Kok says the I-43 ramps will also continue to be closed until the fall.
“The ramps are northbound I-43 to southbound I-41. The I-41 ramp will remain closed until September. Also, the southbound I-41 to southbound I-43 ramp will also remained closed until September.”
Construction will be finished at the end of the year with some finishing touches, like landscaping, to be completed at the beginning of 2017.
The total cost of the project in Winnebago and Brown Counties is 1.5 billion dollars.
The road work started back in 2009.
