ASHWAUBENON, WI (WTAQ) — The Village of Ashwaubenon will be celebrating it’s sesquicentennial this year.
They announced a number of events and a special sesquicentennial logo during a Tuesday event at village hall.
Nelson Beams is a high school student who designed the new logo, which features the Resch Expo and the Veterans Memorial in the stadium district.
“I really wanted to capture all of Ashwaubenon, not just the Green Bay Packers,” said Beams. “Ashwaubenon is a growing [place], and I’m happy to be a part of it.”
The city will celebrate during the week of August 8th with an ice cream social, baseball, concert, talent show, and more.
“There are a lot of activities planned,” said Village President Mary Kardoskee. “We’ve been working on this for over a year trying to get everything situated.”
Ashwaubenon was designated as a community in an act passed by the state of Wisconsin in 1872. It was designated as a village in 1977.
