HOWARD, WI (WTAQ) – His name has been mentioned in the discussion about a possible challenge to Donald Trump for the Republican party’s presidential nomination….but Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker isn’t pushing the idea.
Walker was in Howard this week for a meeting with constituents.
A report in the Green Bay Press-Gazette says while Walker’s name is being mentioned on cable news, the Governor isn’t taking the bait.
CNN is reporting the Governor is “intrigued” by the idea of allowing his name to be placed in nomination at the GOP convention next month.
But Walker says if he runs for anything in the next couple of years it will potentially be for re-election to a 3rd term in 2018.
And a decision on that isn’t imminent.
Walker says that decision won’t come until after the elections this fall and then after the next state budget is done.
The Governor was in Howard as part of a “listening tour” that will include about 90 locations across Wisconsin by the end of the year.
