UNDATED, WI (WTAQ) – We are finally in the dead heat of summer and that means some sweltering temperatures and blazing rays from the sun. Those rays can be dangerous if you’re not protecting your largest organ, your skin.
Lori Buss, an aesthetician at the Prevea Holmgren Way Health Center, says even if you aren’t out in the sun for a long length of time, you still need to protect your skin.
“Every 52 seconds a person dies of Melanoma and more people will be diagnosed with skin cancer in the country than people that will be smoking cigarettes and getting lung cancer.”
Buss says wearing sunscreen is a must with the minimum of a 30 SPF.
“Anything above a 30 is going to give you such minimal protection. After that I think it’s anywhere from a half percentage to maybe one percent.”
