APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) – A dying 14-year-old Appleton girl is still basking in the afterglow of a huge turnout of “J’s Last Dance,” a farewell prom organized by her and her mother.
Hundreds packed the Grand Meridian ballroom in Appleton from all over the country on Friday night to celebrate Jerika Bolen’s life.
She is dying from spinal muscular atrophy type 2, which has prevented her from ever walking.
Bolen told the “Appleton Post-Crescent” she’s baffled by how many people have been touched by her story.
