KESHENA, WI (WTAQ) – The Menominee Tribe has a new chairman.
On Monday, Gary Besaw was elected for a one-year term.
Tribal spokeswoman Tasha Caldwell tells FOX 11 that the previous chairwoman, Laurie Boivin, will remain in the legislature.
Last month, Governor Scott Walker rejected a plan by the Menominee Tribe to build an off-reservation casino in Kenosha.
The tribe says they’ve called a special meeting Tuesday night to discuss a possible march to the State Capitol in Madison on the issue.
