OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ) – The Oshkosh Corporation has unveiled a new all-terrain military ambulance designed to improve urgent medical care in combat areas.
The vehicle was put on display Monday at the International Defense Exhibition in the United Arab Emirates.
Oshkosh vice president John Urias says it’s larger than other military field ambulances — and it has enough room to treat two patients while offering armored protections against improvised explosive devices.
The vehicles allow patients to be loaded in less than 2 minutes, thus reducing an injured person’s exposure to enemy fire — and its off-road capabilities can allow for immediate evacuations.
Also, Urias says the units can be blended into convoys — so they don’t stick out as rescue vehicles.
The new ambulance will be assembled in Oshkosh.
