GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – 47-year-old David Meyer of De Pere was sentenced to 20 years for a double fatal drunken driving crash.
In a Brown County Courtroom Tuesday, the judge sentenced Meyer to 10 years in prison and 10 years of extended supervision, after he was convicted of driving drunk and hitting 44-year-old Rebecca Penneberg and her 18-year-old daughter Raelia, killing both at the scene.
Meyer admitted that he had too much to drink at a golf outing earlier that day.
In June, Meyer reached a plea deal and was convicted of the lesser charge of homicide by use of a vehicle while having a prohibited alcohol concentration.
According to court documents, Meyer’s blew a .219 in his preliminary breath test, more than two and a half times the legal limit.
In court Tuesday, family members of the Penneberg’s requested the maximum sentence.
Meyer expressed remorse for his actions prior to sentencing.
