WAUPACA, WI (WTAQ) – Hurricane Florence has proved deadly along the Carolina coast, but a Waupaca Church is doing their best to lend a helping hand.
Radiant Fellowship Church Pastor Bob Adams is taking a group of 5 other people to South Carolina next week to help out.
For him, it was a no-brainer decision to help out.
“We were watching the news seeing the Hurricane rolling in and thought we could rent a van, load it up, and head on down,” he explains.
For now, they have a trailer set up for donations at the Pick N’ Save on West Fulton Street.
“This will sit there until next Wednesday,” explains Adams.
Adams is thankful for the assistance he has received from local businesses.
“The store director said he’s just going to let people load it up and then they’ll do their part as well.”
David Vail is one of the five other people joining Adams on the 17-hour trip next week. He too is encouraged by the help they’ve received.
“It’s awesome that all the businesses have stepped up and we’re just thankful we’re able to go and deliver this stuff,” he says.
If the group receives more donations than expected, then they’ll consider a second trip.
