GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – A popular bridge is getting its biannual inspection and it’s expected to slow traffic.
The Leo Frigo Memorial Bridge over the Fox River will be looked over by officials starting on Tuesday and continuing through Thursday.
DOT Spokesperson Mark Kantola wants people to be aware that nothing unusual prompted this scheduled inspection
“Luckily there has been no major issues with the bridge that would compromise the safety of the bridge or compromise the safety of those traveling over the bridge,” he says.
He explains what officials will be checking out for the next three days.
“Looking for rust, looking at the cables,” explains Kantola. “Performing a thorough inspection of the bridge.”
Kantola gives the details on what motorists can expect throughout the week.
“We’re going to have the right lane closed from 9 AM to 3 PM on Tuesday on northbound,” he says. “On Wednesday, from 9 am to 3 PM we’re going to have the right lane of northbound and southbound closed.”
The real danger might be a common dangerous tendency that motorists develop when driving through construction.
“A lot of people like to rubberneck and look at the inspectors,” he says.
The project is expected to be finished by Thursday at 3 PM.
