OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ) – A historic Oshkosh building has completed its year-long renovation process and opened their doors to the public on Monday.
The Howard was established 90 years ago as a men’s-only club but is now open to everyone.
The building was restored by sisters Carey Sharpe and Jenna Golem, who are both Fox Valley natives.
The space now features a bowling alley, a concert hall, and a private dining room.
It was originally founded in 1927 as the Eagles Club and is built in the English Tudor Revival-style.
Co-Owner Carey Sharpe explains what else was accomplished in the renovation process.
“We also had it listed on the State and National Historic Register, which comes with its own set of challenges and regulations,” she explains.
For Sharpe, the renovation process was all about getting to the buildings original roots and preserving them going forward.
“We felt it was really important to bring it back to its historic relevancy and preserve it for generations to come,” she says.
