ASHWAUBENON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Significant blood loss can be life-threatening.
Monday night, Ashwaubenon first responders revealed what they believe could increase their capability to save lives.
They received dozens of bleeding control kits containing bandages and tourniquets.
Health professionals say seconds saved can lead to lives saved.
Although emergency vehicles in Ashwaubenon already carry a few bags, an emergency room physician says more bags translate into a better chance of survival.
Steve Stroman, Aurora Bay Care emergency physician tells FOX 11 it’s very important.
“The entire idea behind this kit is stopping someone’s significant bleeding. People can bleed to death from a significant injury in a matter of minutes.”
The kits will travel on fire trucks and ambulances for use when needed.
