SHERWOOD, WI (WTAQ) – A big honor has been bestowed on a cow hailing from Sherwood. 8-year-old Anna has been given the prestigious title of Wisconsin Cow of the Year.
Co-Owner Jeff Brantmeier explains how Anna was chosen.
“Through a committee or a panel of people, they selected Anna to be the Cow of the Year.”
And this isn’t her first time being recognized.
Anna has already made it to the World Dairy Expo three times and has taken second place at that competition twice in a row.
Jeff Brantmeier explains what makes an award winning cow.
“They need to have a good background or pedigree behind them, good genetics,” he explains. “It takes careful sire selection, bulls you choose to mate the cow.”
The Cow of the Year award will be presented to her owners, the Brantmeier family, next month in Madison at the World Dairy Expo Center.
