APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) – A tax incentive bill to prevent the closing of Kimberly-Clark’s Cold Spring facility is nearing a deadline and the Fox Cities Chamber of Commerce is asking to delay the vote.
The $100 million bill currently has a deadline set for September 30, but the Chamber is attempting to extend that vote until November 30, which is after elections.
They believe this would allow newly elected officials to work in a bipartisan manner to pass the bill.
The bill has stalled in the Senate after it was passed by the Assembly in February.
Republicans have stated that they currently don’t have enough votes to pass the bill and will need a measure of Democratic support.
