NEENAH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A teen whose actions led to a lockdown at three Neenah schools was convicted Thursday.
Robert Lehto, 17, pleaded no contest to attempted aggravated battery. He was placed on a deferred prosecution agreement for 18 months, court records show. That typically means the conviction would be dropped from his record if he follows all of the terms of the sentence.
The charge is a reduction from the original two counts of making terrorist threats.
Investigators say on Oct. 25, a girl called 911 to report that her ex-boyfriend, Lehto, had sent through social media a photo of a rifle, a video of him speeding to Neenah High School and photo of him in the school’s parking lot.
The situation led the high school and two nearby elementary schools to go into lockdown.
Police found Lehto at his home in Appleton. He told officers he went to Neenah High School to confront the girl’s current boyfriend, but left when the boyfriend said he did not want to fight.
Lehto also said the only gun he had access to was a handgun in his house, and that he had received the photo of the rifle from someone else.
