GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — New Denmark and Green Bay are the winners of Project Vote’s Voter Challenge for turnout during the Spring election.
New Denmark had a turnout of 34.8% of registered voters to win the trophy for smaller municipalities. The voter turnout in Green Bay was 25.8% to win the larger division.
“Compared to similar elections, I’d say the winners were slightly up,” said
Glen Tilot with Project Vote. “This was more of a contentious year for school board candidates…that did seem to bring out a greater number of voters.”
There were a number of contentious races on the ballot, including a Common Council race in Green Bay that saw massive outside expenditures from out-of-state-groups.
It’s the third Voter Challenge victory for New Denmark and the second for the city of Green Bay. The winner gets possession of a traveling trophy signifying their win.
