GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – The calendar shows it’s mid-October, but work on the 2018 Red Kettle campaign for the Salvation Army of Greater Green Bay is underway.
In fact, the contact number and the webpage to sign up for a bell-ringing shift is now open for business.
“We start with about 14 thousand one hour shifts of ringing throughout Brown County.”
Nicole Hanley is with the Salvation Army.
“People can sign up if they want to take just a one hour time slot…if they want to take more than a one-hour time slot.”
She says another option is designed for businesses.
“Also encourage different groups and organizations to sign up to adopt a kettle. Which means they would pick a kettle in the community and they would take that kettle for an entire day.”
Hanley says it’s estimated that a staffed red kettle for an hour can feed lunch to 13 Salvation Army clients.
The campaign runs from Mid-November through Christmas and is the Salvation Army’s largest fundraiser of the year.
