CALUMET COUNTY, WI (WTAQ) – A half-percent sales tax could soon be coming to Calumet County.
The county board is expected to take up the matter at its Tuesday meeting.
An Administrative Services Committee, which also plans to consider the item, agenda indicates the funds generated could be used for capital improvements and eliminating bond financing.
Only seven of the state’s 72 counties do not have the tax. Those are Calumet, Manitowoc, Menominee, Outagamie, Racine, Waukesha, and Winnebago.
Kewaunee County added its tax in April, while Brown County’s goes into effect January 1.
