GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Oshkosh City Clerk Jessi Balcom says Oshkosh is set for today’s election.
“We have wonderful poll workers that have stepped up and have agreed to work for the election.”
Balcom says Oshkosh has eight to 10 poll workers assigned at each of the 15 polling locations this spring. Although that number will grow come November’s election.
“We were set about a month ago we have been really fortunate with this election.”
Appleton City Clerk Kami Lynch says the city is in good shape when it comes to election inspectors for today.
Fox 11 reached out to the city of Green Bay to find out about the city’s current status. Green Bay city clerk Celestine Jeffreys was not available for comment.
The city had struggled with getting enough poll workers ahead of the 2020 Presidential election. And it is unclear if Green Bay has enough poll workers for Tuesday’s election.
Green Bay City Council recently voted that the city will now require five poll workers at each polling place for each election, where it formally required three.
“We have an odd number of people. A chief inspector, and then four other people to run the various tables at the board so that we can run the effective board. And really five is the minimum,” said Jeffreys.
The city council also approved that the clerk can add a third poll inspector shift for certain elections.
The council says the hope would be to attract more poll workers.
“And for some people who work, we love our elector inspectors who are retired persons and we’d love to have more election inspectors who are workers,” said Jeffreys.
