BROWN COUNTY, WI (WTAQ) – The 2019 Brown County Budget is set to be signed.
That comes after strong support and a 24-2 vote Wednesday. Brown County Deputy Executive Jeff Flynt says the approval was significant for more than one reason.
“The County Executive in 2019, is providing the largest property tax cut that the county has seen in the last decade.”
Flynt says the County will reduce its debt by over 12.9 million leaving Brown County with an outstanding debt of under $100 million for the first time in more than 10 years.
He adds that the budget reflects the decision that the County Board made last year to eliminate debt, investigate in infrastructure and lower property taxes.
“The proposal that he has had the last two years is really benefiting Brown County as a whole, it is benefiting property taxpayers and is benefiting everybody.”
The budget signing will take place Friday morning.
