APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) – With midterm elections behind us, the State lawmakers are scheduled to take up discussions on the future of a Kimberly Clark facility.
Some changes are on the way in Madison, but State Senator Roger Roth says the outcome of Tuesday’s election in Wisconsin should not have an immediate impact on plans to look into an incentive package to keep the Cold Springs facility open, ultimately saving hundreds of jobs.
“That would happen on the current makeup of the legislature and governor.”
Still, even with that current makeup, the incentive package is not a done deal.
He says the current members will be the ones meeting on November 12, but Democrats still need to step up and offer support.
“We are going to have to have Democrats join Republicans to make this happen,” Roth says he feels like a deal should be reached because Democrats will either support family-supporting jobs or take the blame for losing the company and losing the jobs.
“What future the Democrat party wants to chart here in Wisconsin.
If they want to be for pro-growth, pro-job creating measures.
He says this will be the first indication.
