MILWAUKEE, WI (WTAQ) – Eric Thames homered and drove in a pair of runs to help lead the Brewers past the Pirates 5-2 in Milwaukee.
Milwaukee starter Brent Suter lasted just three frames before six relievers mopped up the victory with six scoreless innings.
Jeremy Jeffress picked up the win and Corey Knebel notched his 35th save.
At 76-and-69, the Brewers sit two-and-a-half games out of first in the NL Central and four out of the second NL wild card spot.
Gerrit Cole struck out 10 in six innings, but surrendered five runs to fall to 11-and-10 with the loss for Pittsburgh.
The Pirates have dropped six-of-seven.
