GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — A major downtown Green Bay event is leaving downtown after 40 years.
Artstreet, put on annually by Mosaic Arts will be moving to Ashwaubomay Park in Ashwaubenon this year.
Emily Cubitt with Downtown Green Bay Inc. says that while they’re sad to lose it, they’re glad it’s going to stay in the area.
“While we’re really sad to see the footprint move, we’re looking forward to the energy and tourism the festival is going to bring to our entire community,” Cubitt told WTAQ.
There doesn’t appear to be any hard feelings as far as downtown is concerned. Cubitt says the event would be welcomed back if it ever decided to move again.
“For over 40 years Artstreet brought that national foot traffic and all that great art to downtown,” Cubitt said. “Of course we loved it. We would welcome it back.
The first Artstreet was held in 1982 and features an art show as well as musical acts. It’s scheduled to be held this year in late August.
Mosaic Arts is expected to release more info about the move next week. They declined to speak Wednesday.
