APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) – Appleton residents are being urged to double check their bank accounts.
Police officers say the department received north of 30 fraud complaints over the weekend.
Investigators note many of the reports were linked to unauthorized debit card withdrawals.
No word on how the information was stolen or if all of the cases are connected.
Authorities believe the info may have been obtained through a skimming device, which is a card reader that can be placed on ATMs, gas pumps, or other machines.
Any resident who is a victim of fraud is asked to contact the Appleton Police Department.
