The Milwaukee Brewers lost for the first time in Cactus League action on Tuesday, falling to the Chicago White Sox 4-3. The White Sox scored three times in the sixth inning as the Brewers dropped to 3-1-1 in the spring. Keston Hiura continued his positive play at the plate with an RBI for the Crew who will take on the Cincinnati Reds Wednesday. That game can be heard on WNFL (1440 AM, 101.9) FM with pre-game coverage beginning at 7:55 PM.
President of Baseball Operations David Stearns had a much busier day, getting contracts done with 9 of 10 players who were headed to arbitration. Stearns was able to secure agreements on one year deals with the following players: Josh Hader on an 11 million dollar contract; former Boston outfielder Hunter Renfro at 7.65 million; Brandon Woodruff for 6.8; Cy Young winner Corbin Burnes at 6.5; Omar Narvaez for 5 million; Willy Adames at 4.6; Brent Suter for 2.7; Luis Urias at 2.55 and Eric Lauer at 2.4 million. All told, the contracts were worth just over 49 million dollars for the season.
Only pitcher Adrian Houser remains. His agent and the team have exchanged offers and Houser’s arbitration hearing will take place in April or May.
