MANITOWOC, WI (WTAQ) – A Manitowoc woman charged with repeated physical abuse of a child causing death has been ordered to stand trial.
Jamie Schrank is one of two suspects in the death of a three-year-old child that she was helping take care of in July.
The three-year-old boy was taken to the hospital for internal and external injuries following the July 28, 2018 incident and died later that night.
Jamie Schrank was watching the boy with Eduardo Gamez while the boy’s mother was at work.
The pair admitted to police that they were smoking meth while the three-year-old and their five-year-old son were in the house, according to the criminal complaint.
Blunt force injuries to the abdomen were determined as the cause of death following a recently completed autopsy.
Court records show that Schrank is scheduled to enter a plea Dec. 12.
Gamez will be back in court for a preliminary hearing on December 12 and faces similar charges for the incident.
