Two area teams brought home gold balls from the WIAA Boys State Basketball Tournament at the Kohl Center in Madison on Saturday.
The Neenah Rockets captured the Division 1 championship with a 64-52 victory over Brookfield Central. Emery Chevalier Jr. carried the way with 19 points with Carter Thomas adding 15 and J.J. Paider putting up 14 points with 18 rebounds. It’s the 4th title in school history for the Rockets, their first since 1978. Neenah finished the year with a 29-1 record.
In Division 4, the Manitowoc Roncalli Jets defeated the Milwaukee Academy of Science 55-45 to win their second title since 2018. Luke Pautz delivered 17 points for 11 rebounds for Roncalli which finished the year 26-3.
In Division 2, Pewaukee made it back to back championships. After defeating Ashwaubenon in the semifinals 60-49, the Pirates repeated with a 67-48 victory over LaCrosse Central.
The Division 3 champs are from Lake Country Lutheran. They won their first ever title with a 67-56 win over West Salem.
In Division 5, the Randolph Rockets are back on top. Randolph defeated Bangor 65-51 for their state record 11th championship.
