KIEL, WI (WTAQ) – Part of a roof collapsed at a hardware store in Kiel thanks to a fire Monday morning.
Fire crews were called just before 5 a.m. to Lulloff True Value Hardware at 203 Fremont Street for a report of smoke and flames in the building. Police had already evacuated a resident of an apartment above the store.
The fire was contained to the western third of the building, with the roof collapsing over that part of the store. The entire building was damaged by smoke and water.
No one was hurt.
The state fire marshal’s office has been called in to help determine what caused the fire.
Officials say the family-run business has been operating on the city’s main street for nearly a century.
